A virtual tour and 3D model of world-renowned prehistoric monument Stonehenge, commissioned by English Heritage & Intel.
The Stonehenge tour was commissioned jointly by English Heritage and chip-maker Intel to show the Stones throughout the ages, allowing users to move through time and observe the changes.
The tour was shown at a two-day event at the London Planetarium and presented by celebrity astronomer Patrick Moore.
Launched in front of an audience of around 80 people, the show demonstrated the use of real-time virtual reality for the first time. To enhance the experience, scented sprays were pumped out to simulate the outside smells of the area.
While created as an educational and cultural project, the 'virtual' Stonehenge also showcased Intel's then newly-launched MMX chip set. A raft of the world's largest PC makers supplied the latest PC hardware to demonstrate the MMX processor chip technology and capability. Manufacturers included Dell, Gateway, HP, Elonex and Compaq.
The following lists the various roles, skills and responsibilities involved in producing this project, alongside details of certification and awards achieved, standards followed, association memberships, applications and computer languages used, network infrastructures and mentions in press and publications.
